Here is the slide show video produced by a trial with Movie Maker with the materials from the Session 4 PowerPoint file.

  1. How did you find the process? Did you enjoy using Movie Maker? I love it. I've used it a bit in the past for school and will start using it more as our school's film club will need some lessons on editing soon and I can learn from our external tutor.

  2. I think the process to use is quite direct and intuitive, just like using MS PowerPoint or photo editing software. That may be due to my previous experience in using those software. And this is also a problem. If someone has not used any similar software before, he or she may found difficulties when handle the software. And thus to use IT effectively, teachers should be equipped with a certain degree of knowledge on the tools, or the developers should make the interface in a more simple way that everyone can get familiar with the tool in the shortest period of time.

  3. Right. This is a great software. You can add and modify elements of a video such as subtitles and transition effects within a few simple steps. One of the limitations is that it is not very flexible when adding subtitles (subtitle is a crucial element in educational videos I suppose). For instance, the places that you can put the subtitles are more or less fixed and you cannot retain the subtitle of the previous slide in the current slide.

And you are right, Kui. I believe, however, that the Windows Movie Maker is one of the simplest and most user-friendly video-editing software, as compared with other software like Pinnacle or Adobe Premiere.
